Sigrid Damm

Sigrid Damm was born in Gotha, Thuringia. She held a doctorate in German studies and worked as a university lecturer until 1970 before becoming a freelance writer. She became particularly known for biographies of the poet J. M. R. Lenz, Goethe’s sister Cornelia, and Goethe’s wife Christiane. Her other works include the novels “Ich bin nicht Ottilie” (1992) and “Diese Einsamkeit ohne Überfluss” (1995). Among the honors she received for her work are the Feuchtwanger, Mörike, and Fontane Prizes.
