Shunmyo Masuno

Shunmyo Masuno (born 1953) is a Japanese Zen monk and garden designer. He served as a priest at the Soto Zen temple Kenko-ji and was a professor of environmental design at Tama Art University in Tokyo. He also headed an internationally active garden-design company. As a child, Masuno often visited the gardens of Kyoto with his father; their beauty and tranquillity influenced him deeply. He later trained under a renowned Japanese Zen garden architect.
