Shalini Randeria

Shalini Randeria is a social anthropologist and sociologist. She taught ethnology at the University of Zurich and was a professor at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, where she also directed the Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy. She also served as rector of the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna. Her research has focused on postcoloniality, multiple modernities, the transnationalization of law, civil society, and changing forms of statehood under globalization. She has published on normative pluralism, population policy and gender, forced migration, and the privatization of communal resources.
