Samuel R Delany

Samuel R. Delany (born 1942) is an American author and literary scholar. His novel *Dhalgren* (1975) is regarded as a science-fiction classic. He also became known as a major writer of postmodern fantasy through the Nimmèrÿa cycle (1979–1987). Delany has written novels, short stories, comics, essays, and pornographic literature. In 2010, he served on the five-member jury for the National Book Award.
