Samirah Kenawi

Samirah Kenawi was born in East Berlin in 1962. After training as a carpenter and working in the trade, she studied at Dresden University of Technology and subsequently worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Forest Science in Eberswalde. During the upheaval surrounding the end of the GDR, she was active in the women’s movement; she later worked as an archivist and wood appraiser. From 2005 to 2009, she pursued an autodidactic course of study in economics. Writing has also been part of her professional work.
