Robin Detje, born in Lübeck in 1964, is a German author and literary translator. After training as an actor, he worked for many years as a critic and feuilleton writer, contributing to publications including Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung and Berliner Zeitung. As an author, he wrote the book “Castorf – Provokation aus Prinzip.” His translations include works by William T. Vollmann, Kiran Desai, Joshua Cohen, Brit Bennett and Raymond Chandler. He received the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in 2014 for his translation of William T. Vollmann’s “Europe Central” and the Heinrich Maria Ledig-Rowohlt Prize in 2017; in 2018, he was nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize.
