Robert Schneider

Robert Schneider, born in Bregenz in 1961, is an Austrian writer. His debut novel, Schlafes Bruder (1992), became internationally known, was translated into more than 30 languages, and received several awards, including the Prix Médicis étranger and the Premio Grinzane Cavour. His other novels include Die Luftgängerin, Die Unberührten, Schatten, Kristus, and Die Offenbarung. Schneider has also written short fiction, plays, and poetry. His monologue Dreck (1993) was performed on numerous German-language stages and adapted for film. Schlafes Bruder was also adapted as an opera, a film, and for the stage.
