Ray Kurzweil (born 1948) is an American scientist, computer pioneer, and entrepreneur. His inventions include flatbed scanners, reading machines for blind people, and systems for speech and text recognition. He also helped develop a synthesizer inspired by his friendship with Stevie Wonder. Kurzweil worked as Google’s Director of Engineering and is associated with transhumanism. He is also known for his theory of the technological singularity, according to which artificial intelligence could eventually surpass human intelligence. TIME magazine included him on its list of the 100 most influential people.
