Born in Essen, Elke Heinemann is a German writer and literary journalist. She has published novels, short stories, poetry, essays, monographs, radio plays and radio features, as well as feuilletons and columns in publications including the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the Frankfurter Rundschau and DIE ZEIT. Her works include “Fehlversuche. Kein Kinderbuch,” “E-Lektüren. Kolumnen aus der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung” and “Nichts ist, wie es ist. Kriminalrondo.” Heinemann has also served as a juror for literary competitions in Germany, Austria and South Tyrol. In 2018, she received the Literaturpreis Ruhr for her complete body of work; in 2022, she was awarded the Venice Scholarship of the Federal Republic of Germany.
