Raphael Gross

Raphael Gross is a German historian. In 1997, he received his doctorate from the University of Essen with a dissertation on Carl Schmitt and the Jews. From 2001 to 2015, he directed the Leo Baeck Institute in London; he also headed the Jewish Museum Frankfurt from 2006 to 2015 and the Fritz Bauer Institute from 2007 to 2015. From 2015 to 2017, he was director of the Simon Dubnow Institute for Jewish History and Culture in Leipzig, where he also held a chair in Jewish history. In 2017, he became president of the Deutsches Historisches Museum Foundation in Berlin. His publications include »Anständig geblieben. Nationalsozialistische Moral« (2010) and »November 1938. Die Katastrophe vor der Katastrophe« (2013).
