Rainer Wittkamp

Rainer Wittkamp (1956–2020) was born in Münster, Germany, and studied at Freie Universität Berlin. He worked as a director, producer, dramaturge and story developer for film and television productions, and wrote numerous screenplays. From 2013 onward, he published crime novels, including the series featuring Berlin investigator Martin Nettelbeck. He also wrote a book about legendary jazz albums. Wittkamp received several awards for his crime novels. He died in Berlin in December 2020. Jazz music and the trombone were among his particular passions.
