Matthias Wittekindt

Matthias Wittekindt was born in Bonn in 1958 and grew up in Hamburg. He studied architecture and the philosophy of religion in Berlin and London, and subsequently worked, among other roles, as an architect, theatre director, and author of plays and radio dramas. He has been a freelance author since 2000 and has focused on crime fiction since 2011. His works include “Schneeschwestern,” “Marmormänner,” “Vor Gericht,” “Die Schülerin,” and “Die rote Jawa.” He has received the German Crime Fiction Prize twice, and several of his novels have been selected for the crime fiction bestseller list of Deutschlandfunk Kultur. “Vor Gericht” was shortlisted for the Crime Cologne Award, while “Die rote Jawa” reached number one on the list.
