Pico Iyer (born 1957 in Oxford) grew up in England and California as the son of Indian parents. He studied English literature at Oxford and Harvard and then taught at Harvard for two years. He went on to work as an essayist, critic and editor for Time magazine. Iyer wrote essays, reportage, criticism, novels and several books about globalization and the cultural consequences of an increasingly interconnected world. His work appeared in publications including The New York Review of Books, The Times Literary Supplement and Lettre International. His travel books include Sushi in Bombay: Jetlag in L.A. Unterwegs in einer Welt ohne Grenzen.
