Peter Urban-Halle, born in 1951 in Halle (Saale), grew up in Dortmund and studied German and Scandinavian studies in Berlin and Copenhagen. He worked as a literary critic, translator, and editor. His translations from Danish include works by Peter Høeg, Janne Teller, Georg Brandes, and Per Højholt. In 2020, he edited the anthology of Danish poetry “Licht überm Land.” His awards include the Advancement Prize of the European Translation Prize Offenburg (2010) and the Danish Translator’s Prize (2013).
