Peter Maffay

Peter Maffay, born in 1949 in Kronstadt, Romania, is a German musician and author. Together with Gregor Rottschalk and Rolf Zuckowski, he created the character of the dragon Tabaluga in the 1980s. Tabaluga has appeared in rock musicals, television productions and a feature film, conveying values such as tolerance, social responsibility and nonviolence. In 2000, Maffay founded a charitable foundation for traumatized and disadvantaged children and young people. His social commitment has been recognized with awards including the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Martin Buber Plaque.
