Patrick Wirbeleit (born 1971 in Lüneburg) is an author, illustrator and comic artist. Since 2001, he has written and illustrated more than 60 books for children, including picture books, early readers, Pixi books, novels and comics. He is known in particular for the comic series “Kiste”, created with illustrator Uwe Heidschötter. The series received the Leipzig Reading Compass in 2015 and the Max and Moritz Award for Best Children’s Comic in 2016. Wirbeleit’s picture book “Antonia war schon mal da” also received the Leipzig Reading Compass in 2017. He received the ICOM Special Award for “Das Baumhaus” in 2002. “Kiste” has been translated into several languages.
