Orhan Pamuk

Orhan Pamuk, born in Istanbul in 1952, is a Turkish writer. He studied architecture and journalism before turning to literature; until the age of 22, he intended to become a painter. His best-known novels include The White Castle, My Name Is Red, Snow, The Museum of Innocence and The Red-Haired Woman. His work has received numerous awards, including the 2003 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, the 2005 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade and the 2006 Nobel Prize in Literature. The Museum of Innocence is both the title of his 2008 novel and of a museum he opened in Istanbul in 2012.
