Oliver Primavesi

Oliver Primavesi (born 1961) studied Classical Philology in Heidelberg and Oxford. After completing a doctorate on Aristotle’s Topics and a habilitation on the Strasbourg Empedocles papyrus, he taught at the University of Frankfurt am Main. In 2000, he took up the Chair of Greek Philology I at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. His research has focused on Greek philosophy, the Homeric epic and papyrology. In 2007, he received the Leibniz Prize of the German Research Foundation; he was also appointed a corresponding member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences, among other distinctions.
