Naomi Fontaine (born 1987 in Uashat) is an Indigenous French-Canadian writer who writes in French. As a child, she left the reserve with her mother and lived in Quebec City, where she studied education. Her debut, Kuessipan, was published in 2011, received awards, and was adapted into a film. Her second novel, Die kleine Schule der großen Hoffnung, was shortlisted for Canada’s Governor General’s Award in 2018.
