Monika Niehaus (born 1951 in Hinsbeck, Germany) studied biology and earned a doctorate in neurophysiology and sensory physiology. She worked as a freelance author, journalist and scientific translator from English and French. Her publications include nonfiction books on zoological and neuroscientific subjects, as well as science-fiction short stories and crime fiction. In 2021, she received the Martin Wieland Translation Prize.
