Ian Stewart (born in 1945 in Folkestone, England) is an English mathematician and author of popular science books. He studied mathematics at Cambridge and earned his doctorate at the University of Warwick, where he worked as a professor of mathematics and director of the Mathematics Awareness Center. He became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2001. Stewart also contributed as a scientist to three Discworld books by Terry Pratchett.
