Michael Wink

Born in 1951, Michael Wink is a biologist. From 1986, he worked as a Heisenberg Fellow of the German Research Foundation at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne and at the Gene Center of LMU Munich. In 1988, he was appointed to a professorship at the University of Mainz; in 1989, he moved to Heidelberg as Professor of Pharmaceutical Biology. He was director of the university’s Institute of Pharmacy and Molecular Biotechnology. His fields of research included phytochemistry, secondary metabolism, medicinal and poisonous plants, as well as systematics, phylogeny, and evolutionary research. He wrote reference works on medicinal, poisonous, and psychoactive plants.
