Mikael Bergstrand, born in Malmö in 1960, worked as a journalist for the Swedish newspaper Sydsvenskan and reported, among other places, from the Balkans. In 2007, he moved to India with his family and spent four years in New Delhi, where he worked as a correspondent and author. After returning to Sweden, he published his first novel about Göran Borg, a kind-hearted, phlegmatic man in his mid-fifties. The book became a major success in Sweden, spent a long time at the top of the bestseller list, and was translated into ten languages. Bergstrand also published further novels and crime novels.
