Michi Strausfeld

Michi Strausfeld (born 1945) is a literary scholar and specialist in Hispanic, English and Romance studies. She earned her doctorate with a dissertation on Gabriel García Márquez and the new Latin American novel. From 1974 to 2008, she was responsible for Spanish and Latin American literature at Suhrkamp Verlag; from 2008 onward, she worked at S. Fischer Verlag. Strausfeld has edited numerous anthologies and sourcebooks, including “Schiffe aus Feuer,” “Dunkle Tiger” and “Gelbe Schmetterlinge und die Herren Diktatoren. Lateinamerika erzählt seine Geschichte.” She also published “Barcelona. Ein Reisebegleiter” and edited works by authors including Julio Cortázar. In 2012, the Buenos Aires Book Fair named her among the 50 most important figures in the Spanish-speaking cultural world.
