Meir Shalev (1948–2023) was an Israeli writer. He grew up in the moshav of Nahalal in the Jezreel Valley, studied psychology, and worked for many years as a journalist and radio and television presenter. He published his first novel at the age of forty. Works such as *Judith’s Love* and *The Boy and the Dove* made him one of Israel’s best-known novelists. In 2006, he received the Brenner Prize, one of Israel’s major literary awards.
