Max Lobe was born in Douala in 1986. He is the author of five novels and has also worked as a poet and cultural activist. Recurring themes in his writing include queerness, migration, and postcolonialism. His third novel, Vertraulichkeiten, received the Ahmadou-Kourouma Prize.
