Daniel de Roulet was born in Geneva in 1944. He initially worked as an architect and computer scientist before devoting himself exclusively to writing from 1997 onward. He wrote numerous novels and essays, which were translated into several languages and received various awards, particularly in France. In 2019, he was awarded the Grand Prix de Littérature of the cantons of Bern and Jura (CiLi) for his lifetime achievement. His notable works include the memoir «Double» (1998), an autobiographical account based on files compiled by the Swiss police. His literary report «Ein Sonntag in den Bergen» (2006) also attracted considerable attention.
