Max Brod

Max Brod (1884–1968) was a writer, critic and musician born in Prague and associated with German-language Prague literature. He is best known today as the editor of Franz Kafka’s works. Brod was a major supporter of Kafka and opposed Kafka’s wish that his literary estate be destroyed after his death. From 1925 onward, he authorized the publication of Kafka’s unfinished novels. Brod went to Palestine in 1939 and died in Tel Aviv in 1968.
