Martin Sabrow

Martin Sabrow (born 1954) studied history, German studies and political science in Kiel and Marburg. He was a professor of modern and contemporary history at Humboldt University of Berlin and directed the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam from 2004 to 2021. His research focused, among other areas, on the political cultural history of the 20th century, dictatorship studies, the history of historical culture and the history of remembrance. His publications include “Zeitgeschichte schreiben” (2014), “Erich Honecker. Das Leben davor” (2016), “Die versammelte Zunft” (2018) and “Der Rathenaumord und die deutsche Gegenrevolution” (2022). Sabrow received the Golo Mann Prize for Historical Writing.
