Maren Kames, born in 1984 in Überlingen on Lake Constance, studied cultural studies, philosophy and theatre studies in Tübingen and Leipzig, followed by literary writing in Hildesheim. She was a co-editor of the literary magazine BELLA triste and received the 21st Open Mike in 2013. Her debut, Halb Taube halb Pfau, won several awards, including the Düsseldorf Poetry Debut Prize and the Anna Seghers Prize. Luna Luna was nominated for the 2020 Leipzig Book Fair Prize and was adapted for the stage. Her first novel, Hasenprosa, was shortlisted for the 2024 German Book Prize and Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize.
