Marco Malvaldi, born in 1974 in Pisa, studied chemistry and initially worked as a scientific researcher at the University of Pisa. In 2007 he published his first crime novel featuring Massimo, the bar owner of the Tuscan Bar Lume. The series about Massimo and four older men made him a bestselling author, and was followed by numerous further volumes. Malvaldi has also written several standalone crime comedies. One of his novels about Leonardo da Vinci, for which he conducted years of research, topped the Italian bestseller lists for months and attracted international attention.
