Manni Breuckmann

Manni Breuckmann was born in 1951 in Datteln, a coal-mining community, and described himself as a committed native of Germany’s Ruhr region. For 36 years, he was a defining voice of the ARD Bundesliga conference on radio. He also reported from six World Cups and six European Championships, and in 1997 covered the European Cup triumphs of Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund. Breuckmann hosted various radio magazines and worked as a state-politics correspondent in Düsseldorf. He wrote five books, including the Mallorca crime novel *Schnee am Ballermann*.
