Maddalena Fingerle was born in 1993 in Bolzano, northern Italy. She studied German and Italian studies in Munich. Her debut novel, *Lingua madre*, won the 2020 Italo Calvino Prize for the best unpublished Italian debut and received numerous further awards after publication. The novel was published in German by Folio. *Mit deinen Augen* is her second novel.
