Ludger Schwarte

Ludger Schwarte is a philosopher who holds a postdoctoral habilitation. In 2009, he became Professor of Philosophy at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. He previously taught, among other institutions, at Université Paris VIII, Freie Universität Berlin, the University of Basel, and Zurich University of the Arts. His research focuses on aesthetics, image theory, political philosophy, philosophy of culture, ontology, and the history of science. Visiting appointments and fellowships took him, among other places, to Columbia University in New York, the École des hautes études en sciences sociales and Maison des Sciences de l’Homme in Paris, and the IKKM in Weimar.
