Gabu Heindl

Gabu Heindl worked as an architect, urban planner and activist. She studied in Vienna, Tokyo and Princeton and earned a doctorate in philosophy. Her work addressed public space, public buildings, affordable housing, justice and urban planning, as well as questions of historical politics and critical artistic practice. From 2013 to 2017, she served as chair of the Austrian Society for Architecture (ÖGFA). Heindl taught at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the Architectural Association in London and as a visiting professor at the University of Sheffield. Her publications include the co-edited volume “Building Critique: Architecture and its Discontents” (2019) and “Stadtkonflikte. Radikale Demokratie in Architektur und Stadtplanung” (2020).
