Ludger Pries

Ludger Pries (born 1953, Dr. phil.) is a sociologist. He taught at Ruhr University Bochum, where he held the chair in sociology, organisation, migration and co-determination. From 2015 to 2017, he held the Wilhelm and Alexander von Humboldt Chair at El Colegio de México in Mexico City. From 2011 to 2015, he was a member and deputy chair of the German Expert Council of Foundations on Integration and Migration. He undertook research and teaching stays in Brazil, Mexico, Spain and the United States. His research focused on the sociology of organisations and work, migration sociology and transnationalisation.
