Bogdan Wojdowski (1930–1994) was a Polish writer. Born in Warsaw, he survived the Warsaw Ghetto as a child: in 1942 he escaped with his sister, while his parents were murdered in Treblinka. After completing secondary school in 1949, he studied Polish philology. His literary debut, “Wakacje Hioba” (“Job’s Vacation”), was published in 1962 after substantial censorship revisions. Among his most important works is the 1971 novel “Chleb rzucony umarłym” (“Bread for the Dead”), regarded as a significant work of Polish Holocaust literature. Wojdowski died by suicide in Warsaw in 1994.
