Lene Mayer Skumanz

Lene Mayer-Skumanz was born in Vienna in 1939 and studied German and classical philology at the University of Vienna. After briefly working as a teacher, she became a freelance writer in 1965. Her debut book, “Ein Engel für Monika,” received the Austrian Youth Book Prize. She wrote books for children and young adults of various ages, as well as novels, short stories, poetry, plays, and radio dramas. Religious literature for children and young adults was one focus of her work. Her books received several national and international awards.
