Larry Niven

Larry Niven, born in 1938 in Los Angeles, California, is an American science-fiction writer. He completed a degree in mathematics and psychology at Washburn University in Kansas in 1962. His first published story, “The Coldest Place,” appeared in *Worlds of If* in 1964. Niven has received multiple Hugo and Nebula Awards, including awards for his novel *Ringworld* (1970). The Ringworld novels are among his best-known works and form the core of the Known Space setting.
