Jerry Pournelle

Jerry Pournelle was an American journalist and science-fiction author. He became internationally known chiefly for science-fiction novels written in collaboration with Larry Niven, including The Mote in God’s Eye (1974) and Lucifer’s Hammer (1977). Both books became bestsellers in the United States. Pournelle was also known to a broader American audience as a computer expert; from 1982 onward, he wrote a widely noted column for the technology magazine Byte.
