Kurt Appel, born in 1968, is a theologian and philosopher. He studied Catholic theology, philosophy, history and German studies at the University of Vienna and holds doctorates in philosophy and theology. In 2011, he became Professor of Theological Foundations at the University of Vienna’s Faculty of Catholic Theology. In 2010, he also became a visiting professor at the Facoltà Teologica dell’Italia Settentrionale and took on the role of spokesperson for the interdisciplinary research platform “Religion and Transformation in Contemporary European Society” at the University of Vienna.
