Klaus Honnef (born 1939 in Tilsit, East Prussia, now Sovetsk) is a German art historian, art critic, exhibition curator and theorist of artistic photography. He was an honorary professor of photography theory at the Kunsthochschule Kassel and a co-organizer of documenta 5 and documenta 6. He also curated more than 500 exhibitions in Germany and abroad. Honnef authored numerous books on contemporary painting and photography, including “Contemporary Art,” “Andy Warhol” and “Pop Art.”
