Klaartje de Zwarte-Walvisch was born in 1911 and worked as a seamstress in Amsterdam. In 1934, she married the warehouse worker Joseph de Zwarte. In March 1943, they were deported to the Herzogenbusch concentration camp (Kamp Vught). Klaartje de Zwarte-Walvisch was murdered at the Sobibór extermination camp on 16 July 1943.
