Kerstin Ehmer

Kerstin Ehmer was born in Hamm, Westphalia. She studied theatre and film studies, American studies and philosophy at Freie Universität Berlin, and trained as a photographer at the Lette-Verein. She subsequently worked as a reportage, fashion, portrait and lifestyle photographer, as well as a reportage journalist. In 2001, she and her husband opened the Victoria Bar in Berlin. Ehmer has published both nonfiction and crime fiction. Her books include »Die Schule der Trunkenheit« (2013) and the Kommissar Spiro novels »Der weiße Affe« (2017), »Die schwarze Fee« (2019) and »Der blonde Hund« (2022). In 2023, she published a biography of polar explorer Kathleen Scott, »Diese Freiheit bedeutet mir alles«.
