Joyce Carol Oates

Joyce Carol Oates, born in 1938 in Lockport, New York, is an American writer. She studied English and philosophy and taught at Princeton University. Her wide-ranging body of work includes novels, short stories, poetry, plays, essays, and literary criticism. Her notable novels include *We Were the Mulvaneys*, *Blonde*, and *The Falls*. She has received numerous awards for her writing, including the National Book Award, the O. Henry Award several times, the Jerusalem Prize (2019), and the Cino Del Duca World Prize (2020).
