Birgitt Kollmann

Birgitt Kollmann, born in Duisburg in 1953, studied English, Spanish and Swedish in Heidelberg. She first worked as a translator in the field of development aid and then spent six years in South America. She subsequently worked as a freelance translator from English and Spanish. Authors she translated include Joyce Carol Oates, Alison McGhee, Jenny Han and Juan Villoro. Her translations received the Catholic Children’s and Youth Book Prize twice, as well as the German Youth Literature Prize in 2019.
