Josef Winkler

Josef Winkler was born on 3 March 1953 in Kamering near Paternion, Carinthia. After attending commercial school, he worked in administration and at a publishing house. From 1982 onward, he worked as a freelance writer. Before that, he organized readings and literary competitions and published the literary journal “Schreibarbeiten.” He received the Georg Büchner Prize in 2008. His publications include “Mutter und der Bleistift” and “Wortschatz der Nacht.”
