Josef Bierbichler

Josef Bierbichler (born in 1948 in Ambach near Lake Starnberg) was an actor and writer. After studying at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich, he worked from the early 1970s at major theaters in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, including the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Bavarian State Theatre and the Volksbühne Berlin. He appeared in films by directors including Werner Herzog, Herbert Achternbusch, Tom Tykwer and Michael Haneke, among them *Heart of Glass*, *The Deadly Maria* and *The White Ribbon*. He was named Actor of the Year three times by *Theater heute*. Before his actor training, he attended hotel management school.
