Johannes Jansen, born in East Berlin in 1966, was part of the unofficial literary scene in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district during the 1980s. He published prose and poetry in various literary journals. His distinctions include the Anna Seghers Prize (1990), the Alfred Döblin Fellowship (1992), and the Carinthia Prize at the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt (1996).
