Christian Kuchler

Christian Kuchler (born 1974) is a historian and scholar of history education. After working in several schools, he taught at the universities of Munich and Regensburg. In 2006, he earned his doctorate at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich with a study of Catholic film work in Bavaria from 1945 to 1965. At RWTH Aachen University, he headed the Teaching and Research Area for Social Sciences Education from 2012 and became chair of the university’s Teacher Education Centre in 2015. His research has focused on history education, public history and extracurricular learning sites. His publications include “Lernort Auschwitz. Geschichte und Rezeption schulischer Gedenkstättenfahrten 1980–2019” (2021).
